Buta Singh should resign, says Jyoti Basu

Bihar Governor Buta Singh should resign in view of the SC judgement against him, Jyoti Basu said.

Bihar Governor Buta Singh should resign in view of the Supreme Court judgement against him, veteran CPI(M) politburo member Jyoti Basu said in Kolkata on Wednesday.

"In the light of the judgement, it will be appropriate for Buta Singh to step down from the post of Governor of Bihar", the former Chief Minister of West Bengal said.

He, however, did not comment when his reaction was sought on the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha LK Advani's demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with that of Buta Singh on the issue.

"My party has already called for Buta Singh's resignation," he said.
