Chhattisgarh Government has decided to give amnesty to 644 prisoners in state's jails on the occasion of Independence Day, officials said in Raipur today.

A total of 644 prisoners in the state, including 19 women prisoners, will get pardon in their sentences on August 15, they said.

As per the decision 36 prisoners undergoing life imprisonment will be released, while the rest of 608 would get concession in their jail terms, they said.

Officials in prison department said 103 prisoners of Raipur Central Jail will get the benefit of the decision, besides inmates of sub-jails across the state.
