Just two days before poll campaigning in the capital comes to a close, BJP’s movement is losing steam. In the past two days a public meet of Sukhbir Singh Badal, deputy chief minister of Punjab and a rally of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the Capital have been cancelled.
Sources in the party said with national leaders busy in their own campaigning as they are also contesting during the same period, and the state president of BJP Harsh Vardhan also in the fray from the Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency the Delhi unit seems to be struggling in the last leg.
Senior BJP leaders point out that it is not the cancellation of the public meet which is a cause of concern but the way the entire issue was handled. For instance in West Delhi, despite getting information that Badal would not be able to attend, those managing the affairs did not spread the message, and at the last minute it caused major embarrassment to the party. Party sources said that this may prove detrimental for party candidate Pravesh Verma, who was hoping to woo Sikh voters.
“So far the Delhi unit was managing the affairs decently but in the past two days things have changed for the worse. Not only are the senior leaders busy but there is lack of coordination between the seven candidates too as far as raising issues are concerned. Owing to this the workers too are feeling de-motivated,” said a senior BJP leader.

{{/usCountry}}Senior BJP leaders also pointed out that the seven candidates are busy highlighting their own agenda. “A number of candidates have become too complacent as they are hoping to ride on the Modi wave and hence have reduced their number of public meetings,” said a senior BJP leader.
To add to the woes, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) senior leaders including Arvind Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, Manish Sisodia and others addressed several rallies on Saturday and Sunday across the city.
