Car falls into Bhakra Canal, three feared drowned

Three members of a family were feared drowned when the car in which they were travelling plunged into Bhakra Canal today. The car driver and another person swam to safety, police said.

The family hailed from Ludhiana, they said adding the car fell into the Bhakra Canal near a restaurant at Sirhind.

Divers had been pressed into service to fish out the bodies or trace any possible survivor, police said.
