Bhullar first suspended accused ASI Narinder Singh and then asked the Phase I police to register a case.He then appointed a new investigating officer, who traced the car (CH01P 0657) to a Mohali house in Sector 70. The car belongs to a bank employee, Amrik Singh. Since nobody was at home, the police returned with the impounded car.The accident occurred on Tuesday evening, but no case was registered. Instead, the police told the victim, Bapu P., a Phase 3B-II resident who was driving a scooter, that the number actually belonged to a moped.However, the police solved the case within 12 hours after the story was published in HT Chandigarh Live.
