Cases against 3 IPS officers in MP for power theft

Madhya Pradesh Central Power Distribution Limited Company has registered cases against three retired Indian Police Service officials in the state for allegedly being involved in electricity thefts in Bhopal.

Madhya Pradesh Central Power Distribution Limited Company has registered cases against three retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officials in the state for allegedly being involved in electricity thefts in Bhopal.

Company officials conducted raids at various localities in south Bhopal on Friday and found that power was being stolen by these retired IPS officials at their residences in Vaishali Nagar.

The three IPS officers against whom cases of theft were registered are former MPEB Vigilance Director V P Singh, S S Barbare and C P Singh, company sources said.

An electricity bill of about Rs 1.98 lakh has been handed over to the former MPEB Vigilance Director in whose name the electricity meter had been issued while a Rs 98,000 bill was given to Lila Barbare, wife of S S Barbare as the connection had been taken in her name, they said.

Another retired IPS officer C P Singh, who has a meter issued in the name of Padma Devi at his house, was also charged Rs two lakh for electricity theft, company sources said.
