IG Bhopal Range Sanjeev Kumar Singh called on Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni on Thursday evening to apprise him about the investigation. Meanwhile, the team of Crime Branch led by the IG conducted investigations throughout Thursday, for the second day in succession.

Insiders say that given the serious nature of the incident and the possible involvement of an official, the police need clinching evidence before laying hands on anybody.

Officials of the protocol office including those who were posted here in the past have been interrogated and the house of at least one official was searched.

Though the police have laid hands on evidences, nobody has been nabbed as yet. IG Sanjeev Kumar Singh had been asked to complete the inquiry within 48 hours. However, it is learnt that he has asked for some more time to be given to the team for completing the inquiry and catching the person responsible for the theft.
