"The government has asked acting Vice Chancellor of the university to probe charges against Registrar GP Tripathi", a senior education department official said in Lucknow.

Some students had approached the SC/ST cell of the university on July 13 and lodged a complaint against Tripathi.

The university has been asked to submit report within two weeks.

Special Secretary, Higher Education Vimal Kishore Gupta, has written a letter to the LU VC on September 8 asking him to probe the matter and submit his report to the government.

Special Secretary to Governor, Hari Charan Prakash, has also written a similar letter to the VC asking him to probe allegations.

LU registrar Tripathi is accused of using language laced with caste expletives and laxity in issues related to scholarships of SC/ST students.
