The CBI on Wednesday undertook a major rejig of senior officials of joint-director rank but insisted it was a routine exercise and not connected to the controversy over home secretary Anil Goswami’s alleged attempt to stall the arrest of former union minister Matang Sinh in the Saradha chit fund scam.
Joint director Ashok Tiwari, who was supervising anti-corruption probes in the Delhi zone including the 2G scam, was transferred to the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA), which is probing the 1991 Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. His five-year term with the agency will get over in a month, said a source. He was replaced by another joint director Anurag Garg.
Joint director Prabodh Kumar, who was handling key corruption cases including the Tatra truck scam and Choppergate scam, has been shifted to Banking Securities Fraud Cell (BSFC) while another joint director RP Agrawal has been given charge of the anti-corruption wing.
Joint director Rajeev Sharma who was handling BSFC was moved to the Economic Offences Zone-I and given additional charge of the Bhopal zone.
Joint director RS Bhatti, who is in charge of policy, media relations and CBI’s surveillance unit has been given additional charge of technical and forensic unit.
