CBI submits case diaries in J&K sex racket case

The judges will pursue the case diaries and are expected to pass their observations and orders within three days.

CBI on Monday submitted before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court a voluminous set of case diaries and documents related to the investigations made by the agency into the sex racket case in Srinagar.

CBI officials submitted the 14 case diaries, which included the statements of the witnesses and victims of the sex racket, to the division bench comprising Justices Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain and Bashir Ahmad Kirmani.

The judges will pursue the case diaries and are expected to pass their observations and orders within three days.

The division bench on Friday had asked the CBI to furnish a set of case diaries and all the statements recorded in connection with the sex racket case.

More than a dozen persons, including two former ministers -- GA Mir and Raman Mattoo, former additional advocate general of the state Anil Sethi, IAS officer MI Khanday, DIG BSF KC Padhi, two senior police officers, a hotel manager and the alleged kingpin of the racket Sabeena have been arrested by CBI in connection with the case.

Mattoo, a former minister of state for industries and commerce and an independent legislator from Habba Kadal in Srinagar, was also arrested by CBI from his residence at Gupkar in Srinagar on June 20.
