The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which did not challenge the Allahabad High Court decision quashing a notification creating special courts at Lucknow for trial of Ayodhya demolition cases against Leader of Opposition LK Advani and others, has decided to support a petition seeking review of an apex court order upholding the transfer of trials to Rae Bareilly.

CBI, a respondent in the petition filed by Mohammed Aslam alias Bhure seeking review of the apex court order upholding the quashing of the notification and consequent transfer of trial to Rae Bareilly, has taken a decision not to file a reply affidavit and support the stand of the petitioner, agency sources said.
Bhure's petition would come up for hearing on Monday before the Supreme Court along with a PIL filed by Wajahat Ansari, who challenged a decision of the Rae Bareilly Court to drop conspiracy charges against Advani in the Ayodhya case.
The High Court had quashed the 1993 notification of the Uttar Pradesh government on technical grounds and had observed that the mistakes in the notification were curable.
However, successive governments in the state did not issue any fresh notification curing the "technical" mistake and the trial continued at Rae Bareilly.

The present petition seeks to review the earlier apex court order.
