CBSE high-flyers dislike LU

MERITORIOUS CLASS XII students of the CBSE disapprove of the idea of grading system in Class X and XII examinations. They feel that the grades won?t justify the hard work put in by the meritorious. They say that it would bracket all students getting between 90 and 100 pc in one category A or A+. The city toppers also thumb down to Lucknow University (LU). Why? Says Bhawni Mehrotra who topped in Study Hall: ?No wonder, there are some good teachers but the environment on the LU campus has deteriorated over the last few years.?

They feel that the grades won’t justify the hard work put in by the meritorious. They say that it would bracket all students getting between 90 and 100 pc in one category A or A+. The city toppers also thumb down to Lucknow University (LU). Why?

Says Bhawni Mehrotra who topped in Study Hall: “No wonder, there are some good teachers but the environment on the LU campus has deteriorated over the last few years.” Where do you intend to seek admission then? “Probably to St Stephens’ or Lady Shri Ram,” she replied. This head girl of Study Hall has secured 90 pc, which is rare in the Arts stream.

Bhawni has no plans to study at LU. “I plan to do BA honours in history or political science from the aforesaid colleges. These colleges are known for their excellent academic atmosphere,” she said.

Opposing the CBSE grading system, Saurabh Srivastava of Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial Senior Secondary School, who secured 92.8 per cent said: “CBSE Board should make some arrangements to identify the meritorious.” Srivastava is against giving reservations. He does not think very high of LU. He said: “A lack of regular teaching is a cause for concern.”

Other students of RLB, including Nandini Singh (91.8 pc), Sonal Rautela (91.8 pc), Abhishek Kr Tewari (91 pc), Prachi (90.6 pc), Nitin (90.6 pc) and Amit Kr Tewari (90 pc) all are against reservation. Andaleeb Fatima is a topper of Navyug Radiance Senior Secondary School. She secured 93 pc and 100 per cent in Maths. Farhana Yasmeen of this school had to satisfy with 90 pc.

About 13 students from Lucknow Public School, LDA Colony, Kanpur Road, have secured 90 pc and above. Vinamra Vinod has topped LPS with 93.2 pc, Umesh Kumar secured the second position (92.2 pc). Vinamra has scored 100 per cent in Physics, Umesh obtained got cent per cent in Maths. Akansha (91.8), Vibhor (91.6), Saurav Singh (91.6), Kamal (91.6) and others have done the college proud.

Alok Pratap (92 pc) of Chiranjeev Bharti, Anubha Srivastava (90.2) of APS and Harsh of Cathedral School, have done their college proud. Harsh wants to become CA.
