MPCC vice president Hussain Dalwai said in Mumbai that Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and MPCC president Manikrao Thakre have not been given any directives on the Rane issue.

The state leadership has no information on when the suspension would be revoked. "We only know that Rane is still in the party and under suspension," he said.

Rane was suspended in December 2008 after he openly spoke against the party when he lost the chief ministerial race to Ashok Chavan.

He has made two visits to Delhi to meet Defence Minister A K Antony and AICC General Secretary in charge of the state as well as Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel.

However, he is yet to get an appointment from Gandhi.
