The UPA government is fully aware of the problems and needs of Jammu and Kashmir and adequate funds would be made available to complete the ongoing as well as new projects in the state, Ghulam Nabi Azad said during his maiden visit to the district after becoming the Union Health Minister.

Assuring that the developmental projects initiated by the previous Congress-led government in the state would continue, he said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi have all along been extending their full support to ensure peace and prosperity in the state.

Azad, who also addressed public gatherings at Samroli, Patnitop and Assar, said the creation of eight new districts was the landmark decision of the government headed by him to achieve the speedy development of far flung and hilly areas of the state.

Stressing on exploring virgin tourists sites in the state, he asked State Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora to devise a comprehensive strategy for diverting the pilgrims coming to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine to these tourists spots for boosting local economy.
