A special court on Friday remanded to judicial custody for 14 days four public servants and a private builder arrested in connection with the multi-crore Co-operative Group Housing Societies' (CGHS) scam.
Additional Sessions Judge Indermeet Kaur Kochhar extended till January 27 the judicial remand of builder Gokul Chand Aggarwal and Registrar of Co-operative Societies' (RCS) Inspector US Bhatnagar, both arrested on December 12, 2005.
Three other accused, Election Officer Sushil Kumar Sharma and RCS Inspectors Faiz Mohd and Ram Nath, who have been in CBI custody since their arrest on January 6 this year, have also been sent to jail till January 27.
The five men are accused in connection with various CGHS scams, for having colluded with society members to fraudulently revive defunct societies so as to obtain land allocated at discounted rates.
The former Registrar Narayan Diwakar, prime accused in the majority of the 95 FIRs registered in connection with the Rs 4,000-crore scam, is presently absconding.
