A case of overnight modification of marks in the entrance test results for postgraduate courses of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nuani, Solan, has come to light.
The authorities concerned of the university that have put the entrance test results on the institution's official website on Wednesday suddenly modified the same on Thursday, bringing the role of the university administration under scanner.
What's more, the university official instead of ordering a probe into the gross irregularity, termed it as a mere technical snag that developed in the computer.Sources said the university had conducted an entrance test for admission to MSc courses on July 1 and had declared the result on July 3.
The administration had declared 53 students qualified for admission in various postgraduate courses. The gross error came to light after some of the students opened the official website on Thursday morning and found that the marks of 52 students had been increased as compared to the list released on Wednesday. Out of the 53 students, marks of a candidate, Sobarwel, were decreased and shown 36 as against 44 of the first merit list.

{{/usCountry}}“As the university administration has committed a serious mistake, we will challenge the result in the court of law,” said students seeking anonymity.They said overnight modification in marks had brought the entire process under suspicion and adoption of unfair practice in the entire process.
Denying the charges, university registrar Rupali Thakur said it was a mere software fault in computer that had already been removed and a fresh list in accordance with the actual marks obtained by the candidates in the written test had been declared.
