Chauhan displays his bronze existence

For this teacher of sculpting art in College of Arts, Delhi life is all about existing, not living. "All of us (human beings) wait for death, which is our ultimate goal. In between, we get occupied in various odd jobs to keep ourselves busy," he philosophises. Pradeep Chauhan, should have been a religious preacher, instead of an artist. Strangely though, he can explain all phenomenon of life except his art. "I... I don't know what these sculptures signify. Possibly I have tried to justified various means of existence," he says, almost stressing on the word 'existence' (there is a stark difference between living and existence, as Chauhan had said earlier).

He is displaying 20 of his bronze sculptures, in Triveni Kala Sangam. The exhibition titled, 'existence' (no points for guessing that) started on December 2 and will be on display till December 12. This is his third solo show.

Four of his sculptures are in form of a face. All the four faces are same except that their hats and beard are different. One of the clean shaved face wears a 'pagri', while the other hat wearing face is flaunts a goat beard. It looks similar to one of those 'hum Indians saath saath hain, kind of a presentation, but clearly Chauhan had no idea of any such representation. "I had no such intentions. I simply wanted to carve something, "he says.
