Chautala defies EC order

Haryana Chief Minister Chautala refused to comply with Election Commission's order to transfer the state DGP, whose wife is contesting Lok Sabha polls on an INLD ticket.

Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala on Wednesday refused to comply with the Election Commission order asking the state government to transfer police chief MS Malik as his wife is contesting the Lok Sabha elections on INLD ticket from Sonepat.

"We will neither issue orders for his transfer nor submit any panel (of names for new police chief) to the Election Commission," a defiant Chautala told reporters after releasing the second list of INLD candidates.
