Police and fire service personnel in the tidal wave ravaged areas of Tamil Nadu have been put on high alert after information was received of a possible recurrence of tsunami in some of the coastal areas.

City Police said they have been put on high alert and were asking people not to venture close to the seas. Fire services personnel said precautions were being taken against all eventualities.
There was some panic in various parts of the city, when the news reached of a possible Tsunami. The sea appeared to be rough and there were strong winds blowing close to the beaches.
Meanwhile, the Atomic Energy Department sources in Chennai said people living close to the sea at Kalpakkam have been asked to move to safer places.
