Chhattisgarh trounce Gujarat

WITH THE help of dazzling performance by Shweta Mishra, Chhattisgarh team thrashed Gujarat in the Under-19 girls’ cricket tournament organised today in the 51st School National Sports Meet underway at Maj Dhyanchand Ground.

Once again, Shweta Mishra of Chhattisgarh played splendid inning against Gujarat. Opting to bat first, Chhattisgarh set 130 runs target with the help of fabulous 43 runs off just 34 deliveries by Shweta Mishra.

Her batting entertained the spectators. She has been performing well for the last couple of years. Chasing the target, Gujarat team were all out for just 55 runs.

In other matches, Maharshtra defeated Haryana by 50 runs, Punjab defeated Gujarat by nine wickets.

The boys’ teams of Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Maharashtra won their matches of the kho-kho event. In the first match of Pool D, Tamil Nadu defeated Chhattisgarh 20-13. Delhi defeated Uttar Pradesh 10-07 and Maharashtra thrashed West Bengal 20-09.

MP team won their matches in both boys and girls categories of the throwball event. In the boys’ section, MP defeated Maharashtra 15-06 and 15-03. Girls’ team defeated J&K 15-03 and 15-00.
