IT’S TIME to eat chicken with a vengeance. Patrons of the City’s non-vegetarian eateries who stayed off chickens due to the bird flu scare are being wooed to resume eating. With all samples of poultry from Madhya Pradesh sent to the HSADL testing negative and poultry farm owners increasing their efforts to revive the sale of poultry products in the State, people are gradually returning to their favourite non-vegetarian dish.
The MP Poultry Farmers’ Association (MPPFA) has decided to organise chicken festivals and special sales at various cities in the State. A poultry carnival was organised at Bhopal tonight and several politicians, administrative service and police officers, businessmen and other renowned citizens were invited to eat various chicken items.
MPPFA president Piyush Jyotishi and secretary R K Singh said two chicken melas would be organised in the City soon. Chicken items would be served at very economical rates at these melas to dissuade fears of bird flu and send the message that chicken and other poultry items in Madhya Pradesh were absolutely safe for consumption.
Besides, chicken festivals would be held at two famous non-vegetarian restaurants of the City, Angeethi and Evening Point. All four branches of Angeethi and the Arera Colony branch of Evening Point will serve chicken dishes at reduced prices for a week during the festival.
The MPPFA would also distribute boiled eggs either free or at reduced rates at several spots in the City in the coming days as part of the efforts of National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC). Such programmes would be organised at all major cities of the State besides other areas.
