Chikungunya, viral fever grip city

THE CITY is in the grip of chikungunya and viral fever. The OPD of Moti Lal Nehru (Colvin) Hospital is receiving 70/80 patients daily. All of them are down with high fever, joint pain and rashes all over the body. Besides, three more patients tested positive for dengue. Talking to HT, Dr SJ Singh, chief medical superintendent of the hospital, said, ?The patients, mostly from Nakhas Kohna, Attarsuiya and other areas, are coming with high fever, joint pain and rashes all over the body.?

THE CITY is in the grip of chikungunya and viral fever. The OPD of Moti Lal Nehru (Colvin) Hospital is receiving 70/80 patients daily. All of them are down with high fever, joint pain and rashes all over the body. Besides, three more patients tested positive for dengue.

Talking to HT, Dr SJ Singh, chief medical superintendent of the hospital, said, “The patients, mostly from Nakhas Kohna, Attarsuiya and other areas, are coming with high fever, joint pain and rashes all over the body.”

He further said, “At least 70 to 80 patients are coming to the hospital daily and the chikungunya-like symptoms are present in four to six patients.” Dr Singh said the number of patients suffering from fever increased in the past one week.
Meanwhile, three more patients tested positive for dengue. A suspected dengue patient was undergoing treatment at the Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital.

Residents of Fatehpur district, Allahpur in Allahabad city and Mahewa village near Sulem Sarain tested positive for dengue at the Department of Microbiology, said ACMO (Vector-Borne Diseases) Dr RB Singh.

A patient suffering from brain fever died at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital on Saturday. The SRN Hospital admitted the patient Ghulam Rasul about four days ago.

He was a resident of Saini, Kaushambi.
