The mighty rivers of China have since time immemorial flooded but the year 1998 was an especially significant. The year saw the country hit by unprecedented floods and devastation unknown. Over a million people lost their homes and more than three and a half thousand people lost their lives. This video investigates the extent of deforestation and land degradation in the forests of the Tibetan plateau resulting in massive flooding. Also visited are the world's largest dam project on the Yangste river and one on Yellow river.
