Chinese President Hu Jintao arrives in Mumbai

The Chinese president is on a two day visit to the city and would preside over a bilateral trade meet on Thursday.

Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Mumbai onWednesday evening on a two-day visit during which he will preside over a bilateral trade meet.

Hu, on a four-day visit of India that began onMonday, was received at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport by Maharashtra's Marketing Minister Harshvardhan Patil. He is staying at Hotel Taj in south Mumbai.

On Thursday, Hu will preside over an Indo-China Trade Summit. Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh will also call on him.

He will meet the family of late Dwarkanath Kotnis, an Indian surgeon who laid down his life in China while treating Chinese soldiers fighting the Japanese Army.

Hu will leave for Islamabad on Thursday evening.
