Chiranjeevi along with former Union Minister P Shivshanker met Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy and made the request.
Praja Rajyam party has already been registered by the EC.
He has already sent a petition to the EC requesting for a common symbol to enable it to fight the polls.
EC sources said the commission would look into his request.
In true cinematic style, Chiranjeevi launched his party before a mammoth crowd of his fans and supporters in the temple town of Tirupati on August 26, creating a flutter in the Congress-ruled Andhra Pradesh.
The entry of Chiranjeevi, who has acted in 148 films, into politics has generated a lot of interest as he is expected to alter the political equations in the state ahead of the elections.
