THE PUBLIC poured in at the felicitation of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a gesture appreciating his leadership due to which the State got the distinction of being labeller ‘the fastest developing state’.
The honour was awarded by President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam recently. All rumours of the affair being a stage-managed political event were proved otherwise due to the active participation of the public when about 250 organisations from all walks of life honoured the CM at Abhay Prashal today.
The CM overwhelmed by the spontaneous show of affection promised that no leaf would be left unturned to achieve maximum progress.
The resource-rich State offers many possibilities and the government machinery would not remain idle until the aspirations of the people were realised. Terming the award as the first step in this direction, he attributed the success to the toil and labour of the public. He ended with lines from Robert Frost’s poem stressing on the miles to go before sleep.
Nagrik Abhinandan Samaroh Samiti president Padmashri Shalini Tai Moghe showering her affection and blessing on the CM urged him to stress on Women and Child Development and work more on these areas in order to ensure equitable participation in the social process from this class. Veteran Congress leader and Samiti coordinator Padmashri Babulal Patodi said that it was the first time the chief of the State had received an honour from the head of the country.

Former Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalya (DAVV) Vice Chancellor Dr Bharat Chhaparwal congratulated the CM for having taken out the State from its BIMARU status and asked him to strive in maintaining the current position.
Editor Nai Duniya Abhay Chhajlani said that priority would have to be accorded to infrastructure development as it forms the backbone of any State and helps draw financial investment for maintaining healthy flow of funds. Editor Dainik Jagran Madan Mohan Gupta said that the Ramjanmbhoomi Andolan could be revived from Indore, placing the City on the national forefront of the agitation.
