The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will provide Z-plus security cover to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat.
A group of CISF personnel reached Nagpur on Tuesday morning in the wake of the central government’s decision a few weeks ago to provide Z-plus security to Bhagwat.
Around 125 CISF personnel will protect the RSS chief round the clock.
According to available information, the security personnel will be accommodated at Bhauji Daftari school because political activists have opposed the state government’s move to hand over a municipality-run primary school at Untkhana in central Nagpur to the CISF.
The decision was made after the CISF chief had asked the civic body for land to construct quarters for the personnel who will guard Bhagwat. The new accommodation is close to the RSS headquarters at Mahal and is currently being used by the policemen guarding the complex.
Security has been tightened in the vicinity of the RSS headquarters because of a possible threat from terrorists, particularly after the execution of Yakub Memon, who was hanged at the Nagpur Central Jail on July 30 for his role in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.

Police in Nagpur, who were put on alert after a tip-off from Mumbai Police, shot dead the terrorists, who came in a white Ambassador car with a beacon and were disguised as policemen. Top RSS functionaries, including then RSS chief KS Sudarshan and Bhagwat, were not present at the headquarters when the terrorists struck.
