Over the last week, temperatures have climbed continuously and the dry and clear weather has added to the fury of the sun. On Thursday, the summer was experienced in its full strength in City with the afternoon becoming a real scorcher.

People had to resort to summer gear to protect themselves, even though the Ramnavami holiday came about as a respite. The maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius was two degrees above normal. From Wednesday’s 37.9, temperatures soared by almost 1.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Citizens cannot expect any respite as temperatures will now continue to rise as summer progresses. The hot April after a comparatively cool March – thanks to heavy unseasonal rains – is coming about as more uncomfortable to citizens this year.

The night temperatures have also started soaring with the Capital recording 21 degrees Celsius – a degree above normal. Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur recorded 20.6, 21.3 and 22.3 degrees Celsius respectively.
