Though the issue of the Rs 498-crore BRTS was listed for discussion, it was postponed for the next meeting as other proposals received from other parts of the country took up all the time. Urban Administration and Development Commissioner Malay Shrivastava, District Collector S K Mishra and Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manish Singh had gone to participate in the meeting.

When asked, Singh said Bhopal’s BRTS and similar project of Pune could not be discussed due to shortage of time. Mayor Sunil Sood expressed the hope that the BRTS scheme would get approval in the JNNURM Cell’s next meeting. The BMC has made all the preparations in this regard, he added.

Construction of a corridor for plying of City buses in the middle of roads is proposed. As part of the BRTS, the district administration and the BMC have already introduced modern city buses under a newly formed company Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL).
