Gurgaon-based designers, including those at the helm of the fashion industry, are all set to catwalk soldier-to-soldier with others while showcasing their collections at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week beginning on April 6.
The five-day event to be held at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan will showcase the autumn-winter couture of leading designers like Ritu Kumar, Ranna Gill and Charu Parashar from the city.
Neeru Kumar, a leading textile and fashion designer from Gurgaon, who has been in the industry for almost 30 years, has also decided to make her maiden appearance at the event organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
“I mainly concentrate on exports, but the excellent work done by Sunil Sethi (the president of FDCI) to take fashion to new heights made me to reconsider my opinion,” she said.
With the temperature rising this summer, the designers are sweating to put the finishing touches on their creations to be sashayed by models on the ramp to woo the buyers from across the globe. Being a textile designer, Neeru’s collection for WFK is simple and sophisticated with a lot of emphasis on textures and new weaves.
“The silhouettes are unstructured while the colour palette is mostly neutrals like grey, charcoal and brown combined with accent colours like red, navy blue and mustard,” she said.

{{/usCountry}}Ritu Kumar, who has been operating her popular brand from Udyog Vihar for the last 12 years, said her collection for this season is inspired by the journey of Marco Polo, a western merchant who travelled through the silk route in 13th century.
Ritu’s collection is young and modern with a lot of dresses in different lengths (Short, Mid and Long) and varieties —Jackets, Coats and tops.
Colours such as black, burgundy and deep rust are used abundantly. Charu Parashar who shifted her base to Gurgaon’s DLF city two years ago, will be showcasing 36 ensembles in jewel tones like hot pink, emerald green and bright orange during the event. “The silhouettes are extended long, with trench coats touching the ankles,” she said.
Ranna Gill, who also has her outlet in Udyog Vihar, will present various designs of jersey showing different use of belts.
