Two young women were raped and assaulted in a moving cab for more than two hours as they tried to make their way back from a pub in Gurgaon in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The police had arrested five of the accused on Thursday.

On Friday, they arrested 26-year-old Dharamveer Singh, who had plotted the incident and raped the women, and cab driver Vikram Kumar, 27.

The police also recovered the Toyota Corolla Altis car used in the crime from Sector 56.

The accused had said that they wanted to teach the women a "lesson" as the two had duped them of R7,000.

"The victims were known to the accused and had met Dharamveer last Saturday. According to him, he was duped by the women and wanted to take revenge from them," said Maheshwar Dayal, joint commissioner of police.

Speaking exclusively to Hindustan Times, one of the victims said, "I was screaming and shouting for help but all in vain. He slapped me and threatened me to keep shut or else he would throw me out of the moving car. He chewed my right hand and neck, he was merciless."

The victims, both residents of Tughlakabad in Delhi, had been to a pub on MG Road and reportedly boarded a cab at 12.30am. "When the car stopped at a traffic signal, two men boarded the car. It was all planned," one of the victims told HT.

After the men boarded the cab, the driver turned towards the Golf Course Road heading to Faridabad.

The car halted briefly on Sector 57 extension road as one of the men wanted to relieve himself. It was at this point that one of the victims managed to escape. After this, the accused panicked and drove for another 10-15 minutes before dumping the other victim. The victims were then taken to Gurgaon Civil Hospital where doctors confirmed rape.
