Uday Singh, 49, was admitted in an unconscious and partial paralytic condition. A CT scan revealed that the basilar artery, which supplies oxygen-rich blood to the brain, was blocked due to clots.

According to neurologist the blockage could not be treated with conventional treatment and medication.

The interventional cardiology team was then involved and together they undertook a complex vascular intervention, known as 'Interventional Management of Stroke'.

In this treatment, thrombolytic drug is administered into the blocked artery to dissolve the clot.

A senior doctor said people need to be sensitised about slight speech imparity, memory loss and restricted movement of some body parts as these could be due to a clot and immediate treatment is needed.
