City lad Kamal makes it to India camp

The latest example is Kamal Chawla of BHEL Snooker Club who stood second in the All-India Snooker Championship held in the
recent past for selection to the India camp.

The camp will be held for preparation for the Asian Championship to be organised in Doha later this year. Talking to journalists here today, he said cue sports need more support to gain popularity. “It is true that after the national championships was organised in the City, cue sports got popularity. But still more needs to be done to popularise this game,” said Chawla.

Regarding his preparations, Kamal said he was concentrating to perform his best. “I will face competition from players like Sumit Talwar of Punjab.

But my objective is to demonstrate my best in the camp,” said Chawla. The winner of the first four places will be eligible for the Asian Games. He thanked his family for proper support and legend Geet Sethi for giving tips to improve game. He will join the first camp to be organised in Kolkata from June 16.
