City seeks Rs 380 crore from Centre for facelift

THE MUNICIPAL corporation has submitted a proposal for a Rs 380-crore project to the Central Government for improving the city?s infrastructure under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme. Implementation of the project would give the city a facelift. Among the features of the project are two overbridges, proper sewerage system, drainage system and a pipeline for supply of drinking water.

Implementation of the project would give the city a facelift.

Among the features of the project are two overbridges, proper sewerage system, drainage system and a pipeline for supply of drinking water.

Municipal corporation administrator and district magistrate Hariom said the government had asked for a report on requirements of the city under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme. The municipal corporation officials had designed the project to fulfil the needs of the next 25 years. He said in the first phase, pipeline, drainage system and flyovers would be constructed. According to the project report, Rs 56.90 crore will be spent on pipelines in entire city and Rs 46.58 crore will be required for a drainage system. Besides, two overbridges at railway crossing near Tarang Talkies and Surajkund railway crossing will be constructed at a cost of Rs 23.52 lakh.
