This was stated by Dr C M Gupta, Director, Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), here today.

Presenting a report on the institute’s 55th Annual Day, Gupta said applications, seeking statutory approvals from government regulatory bodies to set up the institute in the State Capital had been sent to the Centre.

As all formalities were completed to start work on the project, it was expected that its foundation work could be initiated during 2006-07, he said.

On the R&D front, CDRI had licensed a know-how process to do specific DNA probes and prepare Oligonucleotides primers, to Biotron Health Care Ltd, Mumbai, to manufacture and market ‘PCR-based Tuberculosis Diagnostic Kit’, he said.

Another know-how process to prepare vegetable capsules was licensed by CDRI to Strides Arcolab Ltd, Bangalore, one of the largest manufacturers of gelatin capsules, he said.
