Garg Aviations Managing Director Vijay Garg said that both pilots were safe and said the damage to the aircraft and reason behind the crash had not been ascertained. Efforts were being made to lift the aircraft back to the hangers at the civil aerodrome, he said.

The single engine Cessna took off the Civil Aerodrome with trainee pilot and Captain Islam on a routine training session. Thirty minutes later the control tower at Civil Aerodrome lost contact with the pilots.

It was later learnt that the aircraft was last seen flying in Maharajpur area and it had to land in an emergency in Ganga Katri of Maharajpur. The aircraft where it landed is quite inaccessible even by foot. The authorities took a full two hours to reach the spot and found the pilots safe.

“The reasons will be thoroughly investigated,” he said. Garg Aviations, in fact, has the biggest pilot training facility and it has recording maximum placements in the aviation industry. And the incident of this kind has been the first since the company made a foray into this business around a decade ago.
