CM announces various schemes for Delhi people

Sheila Dikshit announces several schemes and made promises in the run up to the MCD elections, reports Amitabh Shukla.

At the Republic Day function in Delhi on Thursday, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced several schemes for the people of the city and made promises in the run up to the MCD elections.

The announcements include increase in the retirement age of school teachers from 60 to 62 years, introduction of vocational training in schools from next academic year and the finalisation of the scheme for the regularisation of the unauthorised colonies.

The promises of the chief minister included relief for the people facing sealing and demolition squads of the MCD from the new Master Plan and functioning of a new university, Dr Ambedkar University in the Capital in the next 2-3 years.

The function was celebrated at Chhatrasal stadium where Dikshit took the salute of the parade and unfurled national flag and addressed the people of Delhi. In an investiture ceremony organised in the Republic Day celebration, Dikshit awarded Uttam Jivan Rakshak Padak to DTC Driver Kuldeep Singh, who lost his eyes while making an attempt to save valuable lives of people by throwing away explosives planted by the terrorist in a DTC bus.
