The facility will now be a convenient place for residents of a major part of new Bhopal areas to shop for vegetables. The Chief Minister claimed the market could be termed the most modern weekly vegetable market of the State or even the country. This multipurpose plaza is designed not only to cater to needs of a weekly vegetable haat, but also to provide a place for exhibitions, melas, gatherings etc.

A platform spread over 32,140 square feet has been constructed with seating arrangements for 784 vendors and 100 hawkers. The flooring pattern using different types of tiles on the platform demarcates vendors’ space and movement area. Parking lot for 450 two wheelers and 150 four wheelers has also been developed.

The market designed by architect Ajju Katariya has drains to avoid water-logging of parking areas, a Sulabh Complex, drinking water, garbage storage spouts, ramp for disabled and lighting facilities around the platform. Speaking on the occasion, Chouhan said the State Government was committed to the welfare of poor vendors and hawkers. He said hawkers and vendors were being given identity cards and 15 hawkers’ corners were also being developed in Bhopal.
