Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday ordered replacement of the Gagran CRPF camp at south Kashmir's Shopian by the J&K police personnel, five days after four youth were killed outside it.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held in Srinagar. Abdullah has expressed grave concern over the recent incidents of violence in Shopian, which has left five people dead so far.

He has expressed dismay that there was no clarity on the facts of the case even after five days of the incident.
"The cabinet directed the police authorities to determine the facts of the case, including the identity of the so far un-identified deceased person, within the next 48 hours," said a government spokesman.

The chief minister said there would be a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of the high court, in case the facts are not established.

The cabinet also took a serious note of the repeated ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LOC). "It has caused great distress to the residents inhabiting these areas," said a cabinet communique.

The cabinet also decided to bring the matter into the notice of the external affairs minister "for being raised during his upcoming meeting with his Pakistani counterpart".
