According to cabinet minister Surendra Mohan Agarwal, the distribution of sarees will formally start from Diwali.

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the minister also stated that the CM formulated the scheme after consulting him. Elaborating on the financial assistance to girls of poor families for marriage, Agarwal said, “ A financial assistance of Rs 20,000 for marriage of two girls of a family has been approved by the CM”. Unlike earlier, the girls of general category would also be entitled for this financial assistance, Agarwal said.

Fiscal aid of Rs 2,000 would also be given to girls living below the poverty line for medical treatment, he added.

Replying to a query, Agarwal said, “A budget of Rs 2.50 crore has been allotted by the CM for the distribution of sarees and he has also issued specific instructions to ensure their quality.”
