CNR Rao bags prestigious awards

While Govt has honoured him with the National Research Professor title, Visva Bharati has awarded him Desikottama.

Renowned scientist CNR Rao has been bestowed with two prestigious awards.

While the central government has honoured him with the title of National Research Professor, the Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, has awarded him the Degree of Desikottama (D Lit Honoris Causa), a release from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research said on Thursday.

Prof Rao is a Linus Pauling Research Professor and the Honorary President of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research.

Prof Rao was chosen for the awards in recognition of his contribution to the development and innovation in the field of Physical Chemistry and application of science for public welfare.
