GWALIOR-CHAMBAL DivisionAL Commissioner Dr Komal Singh, who inspected the damage to the crops by unseasonal rains and hailstorms in Shivpuri district, has assured the farmers that the administration would provide maximum possible assistance to compensate their losses.
The Kailaras, Badarvas, Pohari and Shivpuri tehsils of Shivpuri district were worst affected by the incessant rains and hailstorms causing heavy loss to the crops in the region. The administrative staff is busy estimating the losses caused by the rains and hailstorms.
On Friday, Dr Singh visited the affected villages and saw the destroyed crops closely. He was accompanied by the Collector Shivpuri Manohar Agnani, SDM Pohari Suresh Tiwari, Superintendent Land Records Sanjeev Jain, Additional Tehsildar K D Sharma and other administrative officers.
On return to Gwalior, Dr Singh said in a talk with the Hindustan Times that all possible efforts would be made to provide employment to the affected villagers. For this, the district administration has been directed to start relief works as early as possible. Essential food-grains would be distributed to them from the fair price shops. Arrangements are being made to make fodder available to the cattle at the Janpad level, he added.
Regarding electricity supply, Dr Singh assured the farmers that if they deposited half amount of the electricity bills, the electric connections would be restored. The work of road construction would be started soon, he said.
