CONGRESSMEN BURNT the effigies of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav all over the city here today amidst scuffle with people personnel to protest the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.
The District Congress Committee has claimed that 164 effigies were burnt throughout the city.
In the ongoing protest against the State Government, members of the District Congress President (DCC) along with party workers burnt the effigies of the CM in all 110 wards of the city. At several places, clashes were also reported between Congressmen and police personnel when the latter tried to snatch away the effigies from the Congmen. Clashes between Congress workers and police over the burning of CM’s effigy were also reported from Kakadeo, Lal Bangla, Harjinder Nagar, Barra, P Road, Shastri Nagar, Dada Nagar, Shyam Nagar, Jajmau, Kalyanpur, Yashoda Nagar, Juhi Colony and Nawabganj along with several other areas.
A special control room was opened by the DCC at Tilak Hall party office to monitor the situation and for coordination with ward presidents.
Outside the party office, on Meston Road, senior Congress leaders of the DCC clashed with policemen when the latter tried to snatch away the CM’s effigy from them. Working President of the DCC Nizamuddin Khan and other senior leaders of the party including Shanker Datt Mishra, Gulab Singh, KK Tewari, Ekhlaq Ahmad and Satish Tewari including others led demonstration outside the party office, at Meston Road.

{{/usCountry}}Venting his ire at the Mulayam-led state government, working president of DCC Nizamuddin Khan said that it was just the beginning of a series of agitations against the State Government. “The agitations against the atrocities unleashed by the State Government will not end till its dismissal,” asserted Khan.
The DCC has claimed that in 12 wards of the Arya Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency CM’s effigy was burnt at 17 prominent places and in 14 wards of Sisamau Vidha Sabha constituency at 22 places. Similarly, in 12 wards of Generalganj Vidhan Sabha constituency CM’s effigy was burnt at 18 places, in 17 wards of Cantonment constituency at 21 places and in 42 wards of Govind Nagar constituency at 54 places. While, in 21 wards of Kalyanpur constituency Congressmen burnt CM’s effigy at 32 places.
The process of burning of CM’s effigy started from 11 am and continued till evening.
