This is the second political murder in Ghaziabad in the past two months. Senior BJP leader Raghuveer Bicchal was murdered near his Vijay Nagar residence on October 11.

The three men had reportedly come to meet Tyagi, who was also an AICC (All India Congress Committee) member. When the victim came out of his house, they surrounded him and shot him from a close range. He was hit below the chest and rushed to Yashoda hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

“We do not have any enmity with anyone. Even during the elections, there was no rivalry with any other political group,” a close relative told HT.

“The three unidentified men fled from the spot and fired a shot to scare away residents. The motive of the murder is still not clear and investigations are on," SP (City) Vijay Bhushan said.

A case has been registered at the Kavinagar police station.
