Cong to draw poll plan at Shimla meeting on Sept 22

The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) is all set to hold a meeting of office bearers and workers of the Shimla Parliamentary constituency here on September 22 to chalk out strategy for the upcoming general elections.

Congress party office bearers, members, district and block presidents, vice-presidents, treasurers, general secretaries and members of frontal organisations of the Shimla Parliamentary constituency would be participating in the meeting, said party spokesperson Naresh Chauhan.

“The meeting will be presided over by state Congress president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and chief minister Virbhadra Singh will also attend the meeting,” said Chauhan.

Besides, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and co-incharge of the Himachal affairs Raja Ram Pal Singh would also attend the meeting, he added.

Irrigation and public health minister Vidya Stokes, social justice and empowerment minister Dhani Ram Shandil and legislators and former legislators from the Shimla parliamentary segment would also be present in the meeting, said Chauhan.

Earlier, similar meetings had been organised in the Hamirpur and Kangra Parliamentary constituencies to chalk out strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, Chauhan said: “Following the AICC's directions, HPCC president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu directed all the 68 block-level observers - who were appointed to conduct meetings in their respective blocks before September 30 - to submit detailed reports to the HPCC president.”
