Congmen oppose move for parking space

Congress activists raised slogans and forced the employees to suspend the levelling work . The municipal corporation had planned to develop a parking place at the venue which had earlier been selected for construction of a multi-storeyed shopping complex in memory of former chief minister Veer Bahadur Singh.

The municipal corporation had planned to develop a parking place at the venue which had earlier been selected for construction of a multi-storeyed shopping complex in memory of former chief minister Veer Bahadur Singh.

Congress corporator and city unit president of human rights cell of the party Shivshambhu Nishad said that the working committee of the municipal corporation board had already passed the project for development of the shopping complex.

He said a foundation stone in the name of Veer Bahadur Singh was there which municipal corporation leaders had removed.

Congress leader Markandey Singh, Shardendu Pandey, Kusum Pandey, Rais Ahmad, Mohan Lal Gupta, Sushila Devi, Irshad Husain and others raised slogans against the district administration to express their ire against the proposal developing parking place instead of the shopping complex.

It is worthy to note that in view of traffic bottlenecks on all the streets in the city, district magistrate Dr Hariom who is also the administrator of municipal corporation, has directed the subordinate officials to developed parking place at the controversial site to check the haphazard parking on both-sides of the road and to ease traffic movement.

The issue was also raised by the mediapersons in the press conference of division commissioner and district magistrate Dr Hariom who was also present in the conference at that time had admitted that parking space was the problem they had discussed the issue with the municipal corporation employees.

Meanwhile, tightening the noose on the poor sanitation condition, municipal commissioner Arun Kumar Singh has directed the sanitation employees to launch a sanitation drive and to check the open sale of edible items.

He directed the officials to make a roster of sanitation employees to fix the duty of employees for cleanliness drive. A control room has been established at the municipal corporation to attend to the complaints of the common people and deputy municipal commissioner will be in charge of the control room.
