Smita Misra, the chief election officer of Haryana, told IANS that winner Kuldeep Bishnoi of the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) secured 355,541 votes in a dominantly three-cornered contest.
His main opponent, Ajay Chautala of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), finished second with 349,618 votes, she said.
According to Misra, barring Bishnoi and Chautala, all other 38 candidates, including Jai Parkash, forfeited their security deposits for not winning a minimum percentage of votes.
