STEPPING UP attack on the BJP-led Government over alleged inaction in Ujjain incident, the Congress today announced to stage a silent demonstration at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday to demand stern action against ABVP activists who allegedly assaulted Prof H S Sabharwal at Ujjain during college council election leading to his death.
The party announced that a State bandh would be called on Teachers’ Day on September 5, urging the teachers to observe the day as a black day.
Announcing the line of action on Ujjain incident following a PCC meeting here, State Congress president Subhash Yadav Yadav reiterated party’s demand for a CBI probe into the death of Sabharwal, ban on ABVP, registration of a murder case under Section 302 of the IPC against ABVP activists who allegedly assaulted the professor and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased professor.
The NSUI, students’ wing of the Congress, burnts effigies of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at all district headquarters to protest the “apathetic” attitude of the government on the Ujjain incident.
Meanwhile in Ujjain academic staff of various coleges took out a silent protest march today tp protest Prof Sabharwal’s death.
CID investigates professor’s death
STATE CID has started investigations into the death of the Professor HS Sabarwal, who died after being assaulted during the Student Union elections in Ujjain. UJJAIN police had requested the CID to investigate the circumstances in which Prof Sabarwal had died. IG (CID) MP Dwivedi has rushed to Ujjain to investigate the case. After examining all aspects of the incident, he will submit his report, according to a release issued by the Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

Jatia sees Cong hand
STATE BJP president Satyanarayan Jatia alleged a Congress hand in disturbances on the college campus. Jatia told Hindutsn Times that the Congress wanted to grab the opportunity on the students’ bodies elections in a bid to energise itself but it created so much disturbances on the Madhav Colleg campus that it led to the violent incident, leadding to Prof Sabharwal’s death. He called the death unfortunate.
