THE UTTAR Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Salman Khurshid today announced that he would take CDs of the Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh to the people. Khurshid also asked the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Pramod Tiwari to perform ‘last rites’ of Mulayam Singh Yadav government in the forthcoming session of the state legislature.

Khurshid was in a combative mood as he addressed a Congress ‘dharna’ at the Sardar Patel statue at GPO Park here. This was for the first time that Khurshid used some fiery words calling Amar Singh a coward. If the Samajwadi Party leader had any courage, he should respond to Congress questions, said Khurshid while declaring “We will take Amar Singh CD to the people.”

Khurshid also quoted some of the contents of the CD and said the Samajwadi Party leader was ruling the State like God. This was probably the reason that Amar Singh was talking of “chadhawa”, said Khurshid while calling upon the people to dislodge the SP led government in the State.

Khurshid said the Mulayam government was in favour of holding indirect elections to the post of mayors. It had no courage to face the people, said Khurshid.

Former chief minister Ram Naresh Yadav and Mahila Congress chief Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi, also flayed the Mulayam government for its attempts to hold indirect elections to the post of mayors. The Mahila Congress would gherao the Mulayam government if it went ahead with the proposal of holding the election to mayors posts through corporators, said Khurshid.

Later Khurshid led a party delegation to Raj Bhawan and urged Governor TV Rajeswar to issue directives to ensure improvement in the law and order situation and solve problems of power and water shortage.
