THE ALL India Management Association (AIMA) would host its flagship event — National Management Convention — at New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan on October 6 and 7.
“This convention would address mega trends of the future besides deliberating on imperatives and actions for Indian companies to manage challenges and emerge triumphant,” said Jayant Krishna, president, Lucknow Management Association (LMA) and AIMA spokesperson.
To a query on why such events do not come to Lucknow despite the city having a good representation of management schools, scientific institutions etc, Jayant offered some food for thought. “We would love to bring such events to Lucknow. But, where do you house about 2,500 delegates at one go?
It’s unfortunate that the city doesn’t have quality auditoriums,” he said. Is it just because of the lack of quality auditoriums that prestigious events don’t come to the city? “Yes, it is one of the reasons. The demand has been often raised but sadly nothing has been done about it so far,” he added. Interestingly, even the City Development Plan (CDP) that has been made after Lucknow was identified among the cities selected under the Government of India’s National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM) has not addressed the issue.
“Until such time that the demand for auditoriums becomes ‘audible enough’, metros would continue to hold exclusive rights for such events,” he felt. For the record, LMA would be well represented at the conclave. “We would appeal to directors of business schools, officers of foreign and national banks, telecom companies and even government officials to attend the AIMA event whose theme is ‘Managing the Future’,” Jayant said.

This change in attitudes has fuelled a massive consumption binge, profits for businesses. AIMA’s convention would be an ideal platform to address issues of global importance for India Inc to flourish.”
